This wine is a favorite of mine for a few reasons, with the first being the name! The Black Girl Magic line is from the McBride Sisters collection. This is a black owned wine brand created by two sisters who were adopted separately but found each other in adulthood. I'd highly recommend checking out their website to read more about their story and how their brand came to be. The Riesling was the second of the Black Girl Magic Wines that I've tried. I've also tried the Sparkling Brut Rose` and purchased the red blend. Reviews on those will come later. Wine notes: guava, pineapple, honeysuckle, citrus (tropical tasting) Pairings: spicy seafood pasta, seasoned chicken dishes, charcuterie boards How to serve: chilled Where to purchase: Total Wine, Target, McBride Sisters website, most places wine is sold First Impressions/thoughts: As I've mentioned many times before, I'm a sweet wine lover and this one is a winner for me! This can be sipped solo but also pairs well with some of my favorite foods. I've enjoyed it both ways and always chilled. The aroma that you get just from pouring a glass will make you excited for your first sip! I love fruity, sweet, citrus and this wine gives me all of those things! It goes down smooth which makes it easy to to sip through a bottle with dinner or on a relaxing night. Upon first sip, I tasted the citrus followed by the sweetness of the pineapple and guava. The alcohol content is 13.5% which provides a perfect balance between sweet and strong. While this is a sweet wine, it is not sugary sweet. It is simply a crisp and refreshing tropical wine. I would recommend this as a good wine for those who are just beginning to branch out from the sugary sweet, lower alcohol types of wine.

A wine with Snoop Dogg on the label? Count me in! I first saw this wine in one of the wine groups I'm a member of on Facebook. A few of the members were fans of the 19 Crimes brand and were very excited about the Rose` release. I would say that I like rose` in general but it's not necessarily my go to wine. After seeing all the rave reviews about it, I decided to give it a try. I found this wine in Total Wine & More (commonly known as Total Wine) originally but it's now available in World Market as well (of course store selections vary). I keep at least 2 bottles of this rose` in my wine rack at all times! Wine Notes: strawberry, raspberry, & red cherry Pairings: Based on my experience, it goes well with pretty much anything as well as solo How to serve: chilled First Impressions/ Thoughts: I LOVE this wine. I was a little worried it would not be as sweet as I'd like or too dry, but neither of those things were an issue. From what people have noted about other 19 Crimes varieties, their wines tend to be on the drier, less sweet side. It is not a super sweet wine but it has a level of sweetness suitable to my liking and for a medium-bodied rose`. It would be classified as a sweet rose` as opposed to other types of rose` that lean more towards the drier, less sweet side. It falls in the fruity floral category and you can get a whiff of those aromas after pouring. The rose` goes down smooth and honestly I can drink an entire bottle in a night with food (hope that doesn't make me sound too much like a lush)! It leaves a nice crisp, yet sweet aftertaste on the tongue after each sip. The Lost Poet is a red wine I ordered through my Winc membership. I was immediately drawn to the label design which includes a poem from New York Times bestselling author Atticus. Maybe it was the English teacher in me or my general love for poetry, but, I had to give this wine a try! It is a California red blend wine with a 14.1% alcohol content (we love a high content percent over here)! Wine notes: butterscotch, dark cherry, plum, raspberry Pairs well with items like: pizza, pasta with red sauce, fruits, chocolate cake How to serve: room temperature or lightly chilled First impressions/thoughts: First, I want to note this was one of the first non-sweet (like in Stella Rosa level sweet) wines I'd tried in a long time so my palette was not accustomed to something that was not super sweet and fruity. I love a nice chilled wine so I typically drink this wine lightly chilled. The wine is described on Winc's website as "velvety, juicy, and flavorful. " I definitely got those vibes from my first few tastes. It took a couple of sips for my palette to pick up some of the notes but I loved the semi-sweet aftertaste it gives. When I try a wine for the first time, I like to take a few sips independent of any foods to get a true feel for the notes. With each sip, I could taste hints of each note. I was somewhat surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I have paired this wine with pasta (spaghetti & meatballs to be exact!) and it goes wonderfully. This wine could be sipped solo but I prefer it with a meal. This is a wine that I have and will continue to repurchase. Not only is it tasty, but the label design is so simple, yet intriguing. It could serve as a nice decor piece and will likely become a conversation piece. As we all know Big Brother is always watching and keeping track of what we browse, shop and and interact with online. Given I am a wine fiend, I’ve had quite a few ads appear in my Instagram and Facebook feeds. Firstleaf was one of them. I’d seen them before but never really thought I was their type of audience. Around Black Friday, they were offering a special introductory offer to get 6 bottles for 19.99 and I took the bait. Fast forward about 3 months and I finally take them up on the offer and order. I took a quiz first to give them an idea of the type of wines I may be interested in and they curated a box based on my results. I got a mix of red and white that I am so excited to try! I consider myself a sweet to semi-sweet wine drinker so I’m curious to see how my tastebuds like something different than the usuals. I also browsed the site and found some more wines that peaked my interest. One of my favorite things in my package was the beautiful info cards that came with the wine. There was a card for each bottle that gave information about the wine to include tasting notes and pairing suggestions. Even if I don’t decide to keep a membership long term, I definitely see myself ordering from them again soon! Check out my unboxing video to learn more. If you’re like me then you LOVE wine! My preference is typically sweet/semi-sweet but I’m not afraid to branch out to try other types or new brands. One of the things I love most about Winc is the unique selection of wines they carry. Some of the wines are sold exclusively on Winc or made exclusively for Winc. When the pandemic first started, I had a chance to explore different types of delivery services such as food boxes, groceries and of course WINE! Winc was a company I discovered from watching a Youtuber I follow. They offer an affordable (and skipable) monthly membership that also gives you special member pricing on all of the wine. The monthly fee is 59.95 but you can skip each month or allow your card to be charged and build up the monthly credits. You can also shop the site at any time and purchase wines outside of your typical monthly renewal cycle. Who wouldn’t love getting wine delivered directly to your door!? My first box also came with a welcome book full of information about Winc's wines along with some general wine information and tips for serving and pairing. It's definitely helpful if you are new to wine or want to expand your palette beyond your typical wine preferences. I explain more about how the membership works and showcase some of my selections in this video. *If you’re interested, you can use my referral code to get $22 off your first box!
